Practicing tai chi with swords at daybreak near the Imperial Palace.

Chinese culture has survived the ravages of time, foreign invasion and communism. It has fascinated, inspired, and awed people from all over the world. It has both dominated openly and surreptitiously inserted itself into the mainstream culture of the current global superpower. China's inventions, like gunpowder, have changed the course of world history like no other inventions on earth. Not only is China a living history, once regionally-dominant, it is the only living ancient culture that can potentially once again become a world power.
