Xi'an is home to a surprising number of great Chinese dynasties. Once called Changan, in English Everlasting Peace, Xi'an was home to Western Han, Sui, Tang, Qin, and Western Zhou and others. One remnant of this is the burial of the Terra Cotta Warriors. Buried with the emperor to guard and serve in the afterlife, these figures are lifelike and life-sized. They are just one of many representations of the extraordinary history found in this city. If you need to get a real feel for Chinese history, visit Xi'an.
